The LTP (“Long term preservation” or “Digital preservation”) process involves heavily working with metadata. There are many metadata standards like METS, PREMIS, DC, MODS, MIX. These standards noticeably help with guidance on how to store metada. The problem is that each LTP archive or even each entity type (digitalized book, e-book,..) inside LTP archive needs a different set of metadata in different contexts. Also requirements like searching or reporting over metadata in archive can differ and these requirements change over time.

As the result we could have rich metadata structures designed for AIP, but with poor ability to process the metadata correctly.
